Georgia - The Land Of Adventure

Do you want to experience real adventure after a tiresome daily routine at work? Do you want to take a walk through the dense forest, go rafting, hike to some of the highest summits in the region and ski down from there?

Do you want to see stalactites and stalagmites, travel to cities cut out of rocks, and taste pitcher wine? Throw on your backpack, come to Georgia, and reach the sky by paragliding over the beautiful landscapes.

Georgia – The Land of Adventure

Georgia may be small, with its 70,000 square meter area, but it undeniably holds great adventures.

Forests

Georgia is a mountainous country, no matter where you go, you eventually find yourself in a forest. There are 14 state reservations, 13 national parks, and 24 restricted and 3 protected landscapes in Georgia. If you like hiking, plan a trip to one of the many protected sites. Wherever you go, you can enjoy untouched nature with rare species of trees, animals, and birds (some listed on the ICUN Red List), clear rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and colorful flower fields.

It doesn't matter whether you choose to travel on foot, on horseback, or by bicycle (such means of transportation and the complementary roads for it are well-developed throughout Georgia) - the hiking trails make your trip easier. After a tiresome day spent hiking, relax, pitch a tent, light a bonfire, and drift away into the depths of the magical night sky.

Mountains

Drawn to extremes and obsessed with conquering mountains? If that’s the case, no matter the time of the year - the Caucasus Mountains are the perfect destination for you. You don’t have to be a professional mountaineer or a rock climber to go hiking or trekking in Georgia. However, if you are experienced, then you can still dare to go to the summit of the glacier-capped, two-headed peak Ushba and its bride Tetnuldi, Shkhara, and Jangha (listing all of them would make this guide too long). With a team of experienced guides, nothing is impossible.

Be it by heliski or ski touring, Georgia offers a wide selection of European-standard ski resorts, where you can ski on and off-piste. Snowboarding, snowmobiling, skiing, and other winter activities await you at the popular winter resorts of Gudauri, Mestia, Goderdzi, and Bakuriani.

Rivers, Waterfalls, Lakes

Most rivers in Georgia flow from the mountains and through impassable gorges, so if you are an adrenaline junkie and a fan of active pastime, go rafting. Georgian rafters will provide the necessary equipment and safely take you down extremely difficult rivers (class 1-3).

Don't dwell much on the diversity of dozens of lakes and waterfalls scattered across Georgia. There are rivers in Georgia, such as the Mtkvari river, where even a beginner can go rafting.

Kayaking is also possible on the 28 routes accessible routes from April to the end of November. Visit Abashistskali for the best kayaking throughout the year.

Canyons

Okatse, Martvili Canyon, Tsalka (Dashbashi), and many other canyons carved into volcanic rocks will have you in awe of the rare biodiversity. On top of that, canyoning in Georgia always equates to several exciting adventures - hiking, abseiling over waterfalls, climbing, swimming, jumping off a cliff, and more.

Among the waterfalls of the Imereti, Samegrelo and Racha-Lechkhumi regions, there are several that even teenagers can safely go down on a rope with experienced instructors.

Caves and Caverns

Did you know that the deepest caves in the world are in Georgia? There are more than 30 caves and caves in the country, including, the karst caves of Prometheus, Sataplia, Navenakhevi, Tetra and others. This is an incomplete list of the magical cave world and the natural wonders of stalagmites and stalactites. In the Sataplia cave, you can also see the footprints of dinosaurs.

The adventure does not end there - Vardzia, Uplistsikhe, Gareji desert, Kvakhvreli cave complex, and many other cities and monastic complexes carved in stone, take you on an exciting journey through the history of Georgia.

The Black Sea

Visiting the sea is always a fun adventure, but the beautiful sea coasts of Georgia offer more than swimming, tanning, and enjoying gorgeous sunsets. Cut through the waves on speed boats and conquer the entire expanse of the Black Sea with a paraglider.
