The funicular’s lower station is located at 22 Chonkadze Street. You won’t be able to miss the impressive domed station, which has been restored in recent years to resemble how it would have looked when the funicular first opened.

At a length of 501 metres, the funicular takes five minutes to carry passengers to the city’s highest point, 727 metres above sea level. Atop this mountain is Mtatsminda Park, which offers far more than just a breathtaking view of the Georgian capital. Visitors can expect to find peaceful picnic spots, bustling cafes and restaurants, the iconic Tbilisi Ferris wheel, and an amusement park full of rides and attractions to entertain young and old alike.

Halfway up the mountain, there is a platform where the ascending and descending cars pass by one another. If you get off the funicular here, you will see both the Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures and the 19th-century Mamadaviti Church. An amazing panoramic view of Tbilisi is also visible from this terrace.

The funicular is open year round, although the crowds are largest in the summer, when it is noticeably cooler atop the mountain than down in the city.
