The History of Kutaisi’s Aerial Tramway

Built, in 1961, the cable car retains much of its old-fashioned charm to this day.  Its colourful, eight-seater cars connect the banks of the Rioni River to the Gabashvili Gora, stopping directly in the picturesque Gora Park where you’ll find a restaurant, rides, and entertainment areas.

What Can You See from Kutaisi’s Aerial Tramway?

In addition to connecting Gora Park to the city, the Aerial Tramway lets you see the city and its surroundings from a new perspective. From on high, you’ll see the sights of the ancient city, the white stones strewn about in the Rioni River, and the greenery that spreads out as far as the eye can see in every direction. During the day, you’ll see the hustle and bustle of a dynamic city, while a ride by night lets you see how the city lights glitter like stars in the night sky.
