The Location and Historical Past of Nazodelao Cave

Nazodelao Cave, located near the village of Akhuti, is a truly impressive 600-meter-long cave. The cave is named for the Zodelavi family and, according to local lore, the cave was sometimes used as a shelter for people during the war times in Middle Ages.

The cave begins with a large hall, which is the last section of a branching corridor. A large underground river flows in the main corridor, with its canyon reaching depths of 7-8 meters at some points.

Nazodelao Cave has been granted the status of a natural monument.

The closest inhabited location to Nazodelao Cave is the city of Chkhorotsku, where you can spend the night.

Please note that for a trip to the cave, you must be accompanied by a certified guide and have special equipment.

There is no tourist infrastructure in the cave.
