Location

The village of Vashlobi, from where the route starts, is located on the western slopes of the Gudamakari Ridge in Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region, at an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level.

The village is 6 kilometers from the Georgian Military Highway, 54 kilometers from Gudauri, and 64 kilometers from Tbilisi. Turn off the central road near the village of Chartali, after which you will pass the village of Dolaskhedi to finally reach the village of Vashlobi through the valley.

Route

The route starts in Vashlobi, at an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level, with a rise in elevation of 1,020 meters. Follow the ridge to the highest point of the mountain, located at an altitude of 2,420 meters.

From here, descend in the direction of the village where you started.

Things to Consider

This is the closest skitour route from Tbilisi. Skiing on this route is possible from January to the end of March.

If wishing to stay nearby, there are several hotels in Gudauri.

You will need an off-road vehicle to reach the route’s starting point. 

In addition to hiring an experienced guide, it is important to have the right equipment, including, ski touring skis, an avalanche bag, a transmitter, a shovel, a probe, and other necessities.
