Historical sites abound in Tibaani, with Khirsa Monastery foremost among them. The Assyrian Father Stephane Kizikeli, one of the Christian evangelists in Georgia, founded it in the middle of the sixth century. Even though enemy invasions repeatedly damaged it, the monastery underwent four restorations in the 8th, 9th, 11th, and 16th centuries, respectively. Today, the Fathers’ Monastery functions here.
From an economic view, Tibaani locals mostly pursue livestock farming and viticulture.
Elsewhere, the village is famous for its "Tibaani" wine, made from Rkatsiteli grapes, grown in the Tibaani microzone. It is one of the oldest types of wine produced in the region of Kakheti: is a dry, amber wine of very high quality that has won many international awards.
You can also indulge in some of the region’s finest dairy products in Tibaani where cheese is aged in fusion with other ingredients like grapes, ajika, honey, mint, and berries, to give it a unique and delectable taste that you will struggle to find anywhere else.
