Balda Village – Kaghu Waterfall – Hiking Route

The hike from Balda Village to Kaghu (Zhuzhgha) Waterfall takes only a few hours, following a trail covered in green moss through the Abasha River Valley.

The waterfall is located close to the village of Pirveli Balda, and there is a 300-metre road that any vehicle can take leading to it.

Once the paved road finishes, you’ll cross a footbridge, after which you’ll follow the path towards the right bank of the Abasha River. The route is simple, unchallenging, and unquestionably beautiful. Along the way, you’ll pass through a boxwood forest, before coming to the waterfall.

What will You See at Kaghu Waterfall?

The waterfall is a popular tourist destination, so you’ll find a number of open-air cafes and restaurants nearby, serving delicious Megrelian food.

If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can swim at the base of the waterfall, although the water is cold all year round.

There is a family-run hotel in the village of Pirveli Balda. The best time to visit is spring, summer, and autumn.
