Ifrari-Chvelfi

Ifrari village

Ifrari village is located on the right bank of the Enguri river, 2,100 meters above sea level. The main attraction of this village is the 11th-century church - the Church of the Archangel of Ifrari, a great example of ancient Svan architecture. Draw your attention to the traces of paint on the exterior facade, typical only of Svaneti. From Ifrari, start descending first, then go uphill towards Latfari pass.

Latfari Pass

Latfari pass is 2,800 meters above sea level, and its highest point is 3,000-3,050 meters, at the church of St. Luke the Apostle. The church has a magical touch in winter when it's completely snow-covered. The ridge is covered with alpine and subalpine meadows. Enjoy the views and make your way to Chvelfi village.

Chvelfi village

Chvelfi is located on the right bank of the Tskhenistskali river at 1,150 meters above sea level. Chvelfi is a very small village, but it has a family hotel, where you can stay and try Svaneti cuisine.
