Okro Lake is 1,000-1,200 meters long and 150-200 meters wide. The bottom is flat and sandy and its maximum depth is 4 to 6 meters.
Many fish species live in the lake: mullet, sturgeon, carp, grass carp, Crucian carp, and Shamaya. The lake is divided into two parts by a special net that separates the perch from the rest of the fish species.
The terrain and shape were also artificially created for this manmade lake. For years, the main purpose of Golden Lake was to host various activities for water skiing athletes. The European Rowing Championship was held on Okro Lake in 1991.
This artificial lake by the Maltakva river is an interesting site worth a visit any time of the year.
