Several types of fish can be found in this lake including salmon and trout (Salmo and Oncorhynchus), mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio Linne), Caucasian chub (Leusiscus cephalus orientalis Nord mann), and barbus (Barbus lacerta cyri Filippi). Therefore, it understandably attracts fishing enthusiasts.
Even if you do not know how to fish or cannot catch one, they can be bought from nearby fishponds.
At almost any time of year, an evening hike can be enjoyed by the lake, except for in the depths of winter and its heavy snowfall.
The lake is frozen for 4-5 months in winter, but the winter landscape here is so wonderful that, despite the frost, visitors still come in good numbers.
The lake is known for its amazing sunrises and sunsets in winter and summer, thus constantly enticing photographers to its shores.
The area around the lake is also adorned with various historical monuments, and you can visit nearby medieval Georgian churches, known as Saghamo churches.
