Dedaena Mountain with a peak height of 3,488 meters above sea level's located in Kazbegi Municipality. The peak is permanently shrouded in snow and has a lot of steep rocky areas. Mountain climbing, skiing, and paragliding are all possible from the summit.
The route to the mountain begins from the Georgian Military Highway, near the Jvari pass. There, you leave the car behind and start to tackle the eastern slopes of the mountain. At 3,100 meters above sea level, you follow the ridge and to the end.
Depending on the conditions on the day, the certified guide will decide whether you can climb to the summit or descend through a predetermined route, which eventually brings you to the starting point. The total time required to complete the entire route is around 7-8 hours, while skiing on the route is possible from January to the end of April.
The starting point of the route can be reached by off-road vehicle.
In addition to hiring an experienced guide, it is important to have the right equipment, including, ski touring skis, an avalanche bag, a transmitter, a shovel, a probe, and other necessities.
Before and after taking the route, can stay in a nearby hotel in Gudauri, although a day trip from Tbilisi is also possible.
