At 4,419 meters above sea level, Buba peak is located in Racha-Lechkhumi Region, on the main watershed of the Greater Caucasus. Buba glacier is 2.7 kilometers long and its tongue descends 2,765 meters above sea level.
From the Shovi resort, take the path to the top and find yourself right under the glacier.
To get closer to the top of Buba, walk a 7-kilometer hiking trail from the Shovi resort and follow the Bubistskali river valley towards Mount Buba. After 650 meters, the route continues into the valley of the right tributary of the Bubistskali river and goes uphill to the slope.
About 3.5 hours later, you finish at the tongue of the Buba glacier at an altitude of 2,488 meters above sea level.
For the most comfortable hike, start hiking in the morning on hot summer days. The road is of medium difficulty and no specific physical training is required to cover the trail.
However, it is mandatory to climb the glacier with a certified guide and special equipment.
