Paragliding in Gudauri – Mt Bidara

There are several great places to go paragliding in Gudauri, the most popular are Bidara Mountain, Kudebi Mountain, and so-called Panorama (near the Monument of Friendship).

Location

Gudauri is a mountain and ski resort in Kazbegi Municipality, in the southern part of central Georgia, 2,196 meters above sea level and 120 kilometers away from Tbilisi.

Get to the base of the mountain using an SUV, then walk along a 40-meter footpath. The take-off point on Bidara Mountain is 2,960 meters above sea level. 

You will fly for 10-20 minutes near the mountain and around Gudauri, with the landing point set up at the Pirveli cable car station near the Time-Out Restaurant.

Season

The best season for paragliding from Bidara Mountain is during summer.

Who Can Fly?

Minimum weight: 30 kg

Maximum weight: 220 kg

Safety

You’ll fly with a pilot who has a tandem-pilot certification from the Paragliding School of Georgia. 

During the flight, the pilot and the passenger should wear helmets, sunglasses, and close-toed sports shoes. Take a light coat with you during the summer and apply sunscreen, and wear warmer clothes during other seasons. 

Ask your pilot to record your flight with a GoPro camera if you want to keep the memories. The pilot will provide you with important instructions before your take-off.
