Gudauri is an alpine resort in Kazbegi municipality, in northern Georgia. It is located 129 km from Tbilisi, 2,196 m above sea level, on the Georgian Military Highway.
Gudauri is surrounded by mountains, with differing altitudes, gradients, and snow cover.
Providing there is sufficient snowfall, the heliskiing season opens in the second half of January and lasts until late spring. Skiers descend onto slopes of untouched snow.
In terms of accommodation, the options are numerous in Gudauri and Stepantsminda, where there are many hotels and eating places of a high standard. Usually, heliskiing starts in the early morning and the duration then depends on the energy and desire of the skier – several descents can be done in one day.
Contact a local company to book a heliskiing tour and purchase a package tailored to you.
You can purchase an inclusive package (airport pick-up, hotel reservation, food, amenities, and supplies) or a more limited package. Having booked a heliskiing tour, you must undergo a prep course, including helicopter and avalanche safety. Moreover, the guide will assess your capabilities and selects routes accordingly.
